Panos mourns Misa Zambia Chairperson Father Benedict Ng’andwe

Lusaka, 08 June 2021: The Board, Management and Staff members of Panos Institute Southern Africa (PSAf) are greatly saddened by the untimely death of Fr Benedict Ng’andwe, the Chief Executive Officer of Radio Icengelo, and recently elected Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia Chapter Board Chairperson.

Fr. Ng’andwe’s death is a major blow to the media industry, where he played a key role as the CEO of Radio Icengelo, one of our key media partners in Zambia. Just last month, he was elected as the Chairperson of the MISA Zambia National Governance Council, and we were so looking forward to working with Fr Ben and his team.

We send our deepest condolences to our partners MISA Zambia where Fr Ng’andwe was recently elected Chairperson, Radio Icengelo where he was the Chief Executive Officer, as well as the entire Catholic Church in Zambia especially those at Our Lady of Africa Parish in Kitwe where he served as a priest, and many others whose lives and work Fr Ng’andwe directly and indirectly influenced. We pray that his family, friends and colleagues find comfort and strength during this difficult moment.

May His Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
