Vacancy Announcement – Programmes Assistant
Panos Institute Southern Africa (PSAf) is a Lusaka based non-profit, non-governmental and evidence-based communication for development organisation that uses innovative communication methodologies to amplify voices of the poor and marginalized to advance social change and foster social accountability. PSAf advances social change and social accountability by promoting informed and inclusive participation of marginalised people in governance and development processes by creating opportunities and platforms for informed and inclusive dialogue.
PSAf is looking for a suitably qualified Zambia-based candidate for the position of Programmes Assistant. The following are the details of the position:
Post: Programmes Assistant
Station: Lusaka, Zambia
Reporting to: Programmes Manager
Key Performance Areas
- – Supporting programme planning and implementation in line with the PSAf Strategic Plan, institutional Annual Work Plan and Budget, as well as project documents.
- – Organization and execution of Programme activities such as meetings, workshops and field monitoring among others.
- – Conducting regular and required engagements with programme stakeholders for identified tasks.
- – Supporting other Programme team members in the implementation of relevant tasks.
- – Documenting results and generating progress narrative reports at project and Programme levels on a regular and timely basis, in line with the PSAf Results Management Framework.
- – Participating in profiling PSAf and its work through offline and online platforms.
- – Identifying opportunities for programme development and implementation.
- – Participation in routine monitoring and evaluation of activities, in line with Programme goals.
- – Conducting regular policy and regulatory analysis on relevant thematic areas in Zambia and in the Southern Africa region.
- – Any other tasks as assigned by the project team or PSAf management.
Qualifications and Experience:
Diploma or higher in Mass Communication; Journalism; Media Studies; Development Studies; or related discipline, with at least 3 years’ working experience. Qualifications and/or experience in Information and Communications Technology; Information Systems Management or other related field will be an added advantage.
Skills and Competence
- – Experience working in / with the media or/and non-profit organisations.
- – Ability to work with marginalized groups such as the rural poor, and other disadvantaged communities like children, youths, women, and persons with disability.
- – Good understanding of fact checking and content verification.
- – Knowledge of human rights-based programming.
- – Proficiency in the use of social media platforms, especially Twitter and Facebook.
- – Knowledge of the media and ICTs sector, with a good relationship with the community, mainstream and online media.
- – Knowledge of the socio, political and economic context and environment in Zambia and Southern Africa.
- – Ability to develop and cultivate healthy media relations.
- – Proven ability to produce reports, feature articles and/ or broadcast media programmes.
- – Ability to work under pressure and quick turn-around time frames.
- – Familiarity with PSAf methodologies
- – Good interpersonal communication. negotiating and influencing skills.
